Houston Ch. 2 News 5:00 Tonight & Houston Chronicle & Ch. 11 Blog Link

Ch. 2 just came and interviewed me at my house.

Article in the Houston Chronicle:

So the dorm wasn't deserted.

The official from AUB who put me on the list, I didn't know. She just extended herself for me-- someone she didn't know and had no responsibility for.

I studied Arabic at Harvard. I wouldn't say I learned it, as if I were a fluent speaker or anything like that.

Jane,

You really HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is GOOO...OOOOD!

So I hope the interview went well. How was it? Did they give a chance to truly explain what was going on with you and other evacuees? I wish could see it.

Everyone here at ALC is glad your home.

congratulations on getting home safe and sound!
did the comment from the well-reasoned blogger who posed a number of provoking questions get deleted? why? finally, it seemed like there was possibility for discussion and a more balanced view. did that person's earlier comment and the post that had provoked it last week also get deleted?
here's hoping this continues to be a forum for discussion that includes opposing points of view striving to dialogue and not polarize one another.

Lady Jane.

Thank God that you are home safely. Rod and I have been praying for your safe return. I was a little concerned that you would not want to leave and after reading your comments I see that you briefly had second thoughts.

I hope to see you some day back here in Beantown but for now enjoy your time with your Mom and other family & friends. Always remember that you are in my heart and prayers. I admire your courage!

To "anonymous," on the earlier posts and comments:

They're still around, but you have to dig a bit for them.

For example, on the right-hand menu, under "Responding to Comments--Why we can't Wait," you'll find I've posted a comment again (as reasonably as before, I hope); it's a response to Jane's response to me.

You'll have to search for the rest of the posts; I think the two main ones that I've commented on are "Paranoia" and "A comforting email," or something to those effects.

I hope you're right about the possibility for discussion. For those interested, the NYT has a news analysis that is thought-provoking:

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/07/24/world/middleeast/24israel.html

This assumes, of course, that you're not boycotting the Times.

That's all for now.
